               AATHREYA   - A COME BACK LEST I AM FORGOTTEN
 
It is only in November
That I remember
That I was Seventy Five
No need to look back
Not to think about me
But to remember them
Friends and family
Past has been good to me
No qualms about what is to come
I have nothing to regret
Neither any need to apologize to some
Take everyday in its stride
Live from day to day , from time to time
I take it as a Divine Gift
No need to be sorry ,
About what might have been
but try to be happy
And not to worry
What might happen
I am certain
That Sun will rise in the east
As I get up after a peaceful night
Enjoy the Sun shine while it will last
Knowing full well that Sun will set in the west
For this day what was I am happy to accept.
Then came December twenty first
Sun stood still at winter solstice
As I looked at the shortest day
And the longest night
Then the Sun began His northern Sojourn
Me Krishna am busy with chores all my own
Aware that day is gaining in duration
Nights are getting shorter by seconds
Looked around me in every direction
Happy to be alive , content with satisfaction
Wishing all a peaceful holiday season
World over people celebrating birth of Mary’s Son

           An Advice To Elderly – Take It or DON’T leave it
 
Live Long , But Stay Young . Say not Old , believe it as Gold.
Age gracefully , healthy , wealthy and live happily
Be without any worry both emotionally and financially
Stay peaceful Divinely and Spiritually
Be content and satisfied materially
You must be your own master in mind , body and Spirit
Take a firm hold of your own Destiny
No dependence on others which I am sure you don’t want
You may share your ancestral property
But only after your own share and safety
Do not give away what is your own asset
Which you yourself earned by your own industry
That is for you and for your better half to enjoy
During your lifetime and your spouse’s longevity
Avoid dependency , despondency
Keep your financial liquidity
That will bestow upon you dignity
Be courageous and bold
Of your life let not others take hold
If you live in your own home, Consider reverse mortgage
Execute a will leaving all after you to your surviving spouse
With full rights to dispose and enjoy  as long as one is alive
Your responsibility is towards your spouse only
And let no one take an advantage ,I say sincerely
Return love with love , If not loved do not care.
Keep all your bank accounts , securities jointly
With your spouse on the basis of E or S legality
That will make you not to worry but to be happy
About past do not feel sorry, And of future do not worry
Live for today and  be merry, Past is history , Future is mystery
Remember everything revolves around money
Live not in parsimony , but in generosity
Believe in live and let live philosophy
Try not to be a lender , nor a borrower be
May you give only without any expectation
May not you expect in return any remuneration
At the same time there is no need for renunciation
As you advance in age be firm in your determination
To look after yourself and your spouse first
And your grand children only next
Take a good deep breath and step back
Wish your offspring good luck.
 
Remember health is wealth
That will give you strength
Beware of strokes and heart attacks
Careful about fractures and cataracts
Don’t fall a prey to diabetes
Avoid high salt and fat intake
Eat well but eat wisely
Become a vegetarian
Get checked for hypertension
Lead a life of ease and relaxation
Think positive and be mentally active
Practice yoga , breathing exercise
Keep your joints mobile
Ward off pains and aches
Cultivate a hobby like cross words and sudoku
That will keep you from looking back

                                        AATHREYA – HEART
 
 
1. ANGINA – Effort Angina ; Stress Angina : --
                       Discomfort or mild pain like sensation behind breast bone on effort or
                        stress . ADVISE ; Baby ( 80 mg ) aspirin once a day after food.
 
2. HEART ATTCK ----- Mild , Moderate , Severe : - due to decrease in blood supply to
                                        Heart muscle – may be silent or associated with pain in the chest                                                                                                 
                                          or pain along one or both arms ; sweating
                                           Advise – see a heart specialit for evaluation , and treatment.
 
3.HEART FAILURE : - Heart is not able to function as a pump properly – swelling of
                                         Feet , fluid in the tummy , prominent veins in the neck,
                                         Shortness of breath . Now a days heart failure can be prevented
                                         if seniors are aware of 1 and 2 above and are diagnosed in time
                                         and managed well by prompt treatment , diet , drugs , control of
                                         high blood pressure , diabetes and by leading a stress free life.
 
4. AWARENESS    Over 50 years age ; High Blood Pressure ; Diabetic ; Obese ; Family                      
                                 of 1 , 2 , 3 above .

                                             DIABETES         and       HEART

Statistics as On Tuesday , 17 November 2009
 
World Population  6 , 796 , 445 , 000
 
World Diabetic Population   250 , 000 , 000
 
About  35 persons out of every 1000 people are diabetics
 
Diabetics are prone to infections , problems involving decreased blood flow to limbs and various organs especially Heart .   They also suffer from  diminished  pain and touch perception due to involvement of nerves . They are likely to develop Cataracts resulting in diminished vision . Kidneys may get affected leading to their failure .
 
HEART : Out of 250 million diabetics , about 100 million of them also have an associated narrowing of blood vessels of heart . Out of these 100 million diabetic cum heart disease persons nearly half of them are prone to silent heart attack without any previous warning., specifically among seniors . Earlier the onset of diabetes earlier will be the aforesaid complications .The problem is compounded by the fact in diabetics ,
the level of bad cholesterol level is high  which results in further reduction of blood flow to heart.
 
Hence all the pre diabetics , known diabetics , persons with a family history of diabetes
and all seniors should periodically get their blood sugar and lipid levels checked and
if needed seek advise from competent medical professionals regarding diet , drugs and

AATHREYA DR BALA KRISHNA MURTHY – TIPS FOR A HEALTHY LIVING
 
Morning – get up before sun rises.
Wash your hands with soap before you wash your face , before you brush your teeth and before you gargle your mouth .
Use a fresh clean towel to dry your face
 Never touch your eyes , nose , mouth or ears with fingers ; always use a clean hand kerchief  ; use separate hand kerchiefs for nose , eyes and to wipe lips
Drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of water a day
Take 500 mg of Vitamin C  a day plus one multi vitamin plus 75 mg of aspirin a day , space half an hour between each tablet . Aspirin on a full stomach . All supplements to be taken with a glass of cool water
 Breathing exercise for 15 minutes .
Have a warm bath ; use a long handle brush to scrub back . Wash thoroughly
in between  toes and fingers and behind ears.
Have a healthy protein rich breakfast ; fruit between breakfast and lunch
 Have a light carbohydrate lunch
Take 15 minutes siesta semi sitting
Tea and two biscuits between lunch and supper
Good supper a mix of carbohydrate , protein , green vegetables and don’t go to bed for at least 2 hrs after supper .
Brush your teeth with paste sprinkled with salt before going to bed
Drink some warm milk before going to bed
Get your BP checked every once in every 15 days .
Get your blood sugar checked once a month
Get your lipid profile checked once in every 3 months
 Get your eyes checked once in every 6 months
Get your thorough physical check up by your doctor once in 12 months
Eat nutritious food ; have coffee am and tea pm .
